AHERA Asbestos Inspection Seattle

Asbestos & Demolition Commercial / Residential

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral (magnesium silicate) fiber that has been widely used in many construction materials and manufactured products, from insulation to vinyl flooring to spray-on "popcorn" ceilings. Left undisturbed and in good condition, these products can perform as intended. Problems arise, however, when they deteriorate and fall apart or are disturbed through the actions associated with demolition and renovation. These activities can cause asbestos to break down into tiny fibers that become airborne, are easily inhaled, and settle deep into the lungs. Medical research tells us that asbestos fibers can cause lung cancer, asbestosis, or mesothelioma, a related terminal cancer of the tissue lining the chest cavity, several years after inhalation.

That's why asbestos is classified as a hazardous air pollutant by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and why demolition and renovation projects must comply with certain asbestos requirements before they begin. For a certified inspector call 425.608.9553

Deck Missing Support? Not in Seattle,Wa

Our recent deck inspection on this Seattle Washington home found many issues dealing with major structural support of the home owners decks. Decks are often thought of as a great area to entertain and have family cookouts on. But way too often these decks are not properly constructed and with the missing support brackets and lags bolts disaster could easily happen when the load exceeds the holding capacity of the nails holding the structure. Many people have been seriously hurt or killed from the builder passing on installing these low cost support items. so before your next patio deck event call us for as inspection and enjoy your deck! Call Pacific Northwest Inspections Group, LLC @ 425.608.9553 today!

Commercial Roof Inspection

The buyer never imagined that this Federal Way,WA office building would require us to to put on our wadders to inspect this commercial building roof. Upon arriving on the roof top we found the roof to have 2-3" ponding issues placing extreme load conditions on structure. The property owner even claimed to have roofing drains cleaned by a monthly maintenance service. Well guess what,it is time to fire the service company!

Anyone got a paddle?

There are three things that destroy materials in general, and wood in particular: water, heat and ultra-violet radiation. Of these, water is by far the most important.
A dirt crawl space under a home is a very bad idea. The earth has very high humidity in the soil. This water vapor moves easily into the crawl space and upwards into the house environment.
A damp environment is very unhealthy and destructive. Mold thrives and reproduces by producing airborne spores by the millions, and some molds are toxic. Insects and critters of all kinds love damp environments and wet materials. Rot and decay occur in damp environments causing structural damage. The water level in this crawlspace was over a foot in areas! How a home owner could continue to allow this is beyond me. Among other issues the electrical wires were ran on ground and inch's away from a short. Crawlspace inspection is critical in home ownership and should be as routine as cleaning the gutters. Home owners benefit from our "Home Maintenance " program which includes routine inspection on all major areas of the property. Before you need a paddle call us to schedule your inspection today! 425.608.9553
